Notas de ingeniería
- Definición exacta: Desde 1959, la pulgada internacional se ha definido exactamente como 25.4 mm. No se necesita redondeo para ningún cálculo de ingeniería.
- Precisión fraccionaria: Fracciones como 1/64 de pulgada llevan cuatro decimales al convertirse. Para la mayoría del trabajo en taller, redondear a dos decimales (0.01 mm) es suficiente.
- Apilamiento de tolerancias: Al convertir dimensiones con tolerancia entre el sistema de pulgadas y el métrico, siempre convierta tanto el valor nominal como los límites de tolerancia de forma independiente; no convierta la banda de tolerancia de forma aislada.
- Confusión común: Un pie de encuesta de EE. UU. (utilizado en algunos contextos de topografía de tierras) difiere ligeramente del pie internacional. Esto no afecta la relación pulgada a milímetro, pero puede importar para conversiones de coordenadas a gran escala.
- Estándares de taladros y fijaciones: Los tamaños de taladros en pulgadas fraccionarias (de 1/64 a 1 pulgada en incrementos de 1/64) y los tamaños de taladros numerados (Nº 1–80) están definidos en ANSI B94.2. Los equivalentes métricos no siempre son coincidencias exactas; consulte una tabla de referencia cruzada para ajustes de agujeros críticos.
- Práctica en CAD: La mayoría de los paquetes de CAD modernos permiten el dimensionamiento dual. Configure la unidad principal según el estándar del taller y muestre la unidad secundaria para colaboradores internacionales.
